Its true that everyone takes art in a different manor and some have different taste than others. Even though one may not appreciate a piece of art and see it as a life experience doesn't mean that art is less important. Art can be both serious or funny but still be a significant piece of art. Take Bansky for example he tends to make street art which makes fun of social issues and many people just see his art as graffiti. His art is still significant and import even though it is outside and tends to go more towards the humorous side more often than not.
